Here at Wild we recognise not everything has to be on 35’s plugging through deep ruts and big rocks – everyone’s adventure is different and we aim to marry up the perfect setup to whatever adventure your after. This was our first step into the Hybrid World and with some simple mods transformed this basic SUV into a sweet touring setup. Here’s the best bit- the client is taking this back to New Zealand via Europe and Asia with a dip into the Himalayas for good measure.
The customer opted for a already sourced ‘sleep-inside’ system which meant that storage of kit was going to be their biggest hurdle. The obvious answer was a full roof rack kitted out with Front runner accessories that allowed them to transport jerry cans and all their gear utilising Wolf boxes which meant they could then take them off and put them inside the vehicle for security when not in use.
Paired with a Frontrunner footwell mounted water tank and a upgraded steel bashplate protecting the sump we modified this to allow servicing on the fly as requested . Mounting a ARB 2.0m awning gave huge amounts of scope for different setups for windbreaks and the additional enclosed room for their wild camping setup. With all those miles a set of ARB Solis 21’s wired into a dimmer module will transform their fatigue at night lighting up the mountains with ease.
